DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY OUTREACH Elvis Presley Birthplace Description: The Elvis Presley Birthplace is looking for an energetic, friendly, out-of-the-box thinker to lead community outreach efforts. Since 1971, the EPB has been a mainstay in the Tupelo community both keeping alive the story of “Elvis the Boy” and serving the youth of this region. The ideal candidate will be passionate about Elvis’ story, his impact on the global music landscape, and sharing that story to inspire the next generation of talented youth. As Director of Community Outreach, you will have the opportunity to share this inspiring story through your ability to design educational programs, plan social/musical events, and create memorable experiences. Primary Responsibilities: Be an energetic and enthusiastic ambassador for the Elvis Presley Birthplace, Tupelo, and surrounding region Must be enthusiastic about the opportunity to share and promote Elvis, his boyhood story, and sharing his passion for music and the arts with the local community, with an emphasis on youth and families Coordinate / plan events on and off campus that promote Elvis and/ or nourish the culture of music and arts in the Tupelo region Reestablish and expand our school programming to include: Coordinate hosting/ touring schools at the birthplace Developing and distributing curriculum to elementary schools Designing a tour (and accompanying materials) of the birthplace, specifically for children Lead the development and implementation of a marketing strategy targeting families/children Create and implement a program of events focused on spreading the culture of music and arts with families/ children Concerts and movie nights on our campus Educational programs on and off campus related to the arts Always looking for new ways to connect and share with the community Requirements: Be a team player that can cover any position at the Birthplace, including leading tours when necessary Bring a customer service approach to everything you do at all times Highly organized – able to manage tasks across a variety of projects while managing multiple deadlines at once Must be proactive – anticipates future needs or problems, and acts in advance to create positive outcomes rather than reacting to circumstances Qualifications: 5 years of combined experience in marketing and/or event planning, or other experience with public engagement Demonstrated passion for either Elvis, music, or the arts Demonstrated writing ability; must be able to express complex ideas through writing. This position will be heavily involved generating content, applying for grants, writing curriculum. Grant-writing experience is a plus Design experience and/or social media content creation experience is a plus Hours: Full-Time (40 hours) Regular work week with some flexibility to account for special events on nights and weekends Pay Range: A competitive salary and benefits commensurate with experience and skill-level Attachments: *Please provide a resume, a writing sample, and 3 professional references.
